Carbs. Cheese. Repeat

I literally think Cheez-Its were a food group in my college career. I love the traditional ones, although they give me heartburn – weird, I know. I even force myself to eat the low-fat ones. But lately the span of flavor line has gotten crazy – duo flavors, spicy, a mini variety pack to vote on – the options are never ending.

As I was browsing Safeway for my item for Week #4, I walked straight to the cracker isle. I love carbs, especially ones that crunch. So I walked straight to the cracker section. I saw these bad boys and had to have them. I love cheese. I love carbs. I love Cheez-Its. I’m bound to love these, right?!?

Back to work I went, with my new snack snuggled in my Safeway bag. The big unveiling came during lunch with my co-workers. I passed them around and we all had a chance to try them. These things are delicious. They are light in flavor and addicting. I honestly think that they have an addictive additive in them, I wanted to eat the whole box. I ate the box in about three days, I kept snacking on them and I couldn’t stop…such fat kid status!

I love the light flavor, not overbearing at all. Same great crunch as the regular Cheez-its, but slightly more refreshing than the White Cheddar. A low key version of those ones.

Overall, another snack to add to the rotation and carbs that I have to work off at the gym…but I’ll take the tradeoff!!

Week #4 Rating: 4 Stars!

A New Spin

Posted on

A new spin on a classic.

I’ve never been a huge fan of plain Cheerio’s, but sign me up any morning for Honey Nut Cheerio’s. But when I got my weekly email blast at work, this little nugget was snuggled inside of there – Cheerio’s launching new flavors. So I’ve been waiting a few months to try these. Finally, as I was making one of my five weekly trips to Target, I saw these in the isle.

First rating: 2 stars!

Honestly, I expected much more. I had them one Saturday morning, alongside my coffee. I tried them with Silk Organic Soy Milk. As I settled onto my floor to grub down, I took my first bite. The first bite was very flavorful, but all the bites after weren’t as flavorful. I wasn’t impressed, so I brought them to work to see if my co-workers would enjoy them (and I didn’t want to be stuck with the box anymore).

Second rating: 3 stars!

As I introduced my new breakfast snack to my co-workers, I had a pleasantly different surprise. I had the same flavor with the entire bowl, not just the first bite. I was very glad they tasted better and that they were consistent throughout the entire bowl.

I guess if you average the two scores they get a 2.5 rating. I guess its always best to give things a second try before you give up on them!

True FatKid Status

I use the term “fat kid” as a joke, so please don’t be offended. More than anything, I use it to mock my eating habits.

Read this article…you will get the fatkid reference:

Blondes are better, thanks to Starbucks

Posted on

I generally don’t prefer blondes, but Starbucks hit it right on the head with this new roast.

Week #2 review is a shout out to the newest Starbucks delight…

Released on 1/9, I was there at 6AM to get my taste. My local barista promised I’d love it, which I wholeheartedly did. Their normal brews – Pike Place & Christmas (rotational, seasonal) – are always so strong, I endure them…but sometimes I make bitter coffee face.

Blonde, Veranda roast, it’s so refreshing light and delicious. I literally gulp it up so fast that it only lasts me a quarter of my 60 mile commute, unlike their regular tar flavored stuff, which I sip on for over an hour. Yes, I may be complaining, but I still drink it every day.

The new blend does not cost any more than the regular pricing for coffee at Starbucks. At least if you use a registered GC, you get a free drink – any size, any drink – every 15 you buy. I like that ROI for my caffeine habit! It lets me indulge in Venti Soy Green Latte’s every few weeks.

Don’t judges, not all blondes are bad ;)

Week #1

Item: Mini Chicken Tamalitos

From: Trader Joe’s

Price: $3..99

So I’m not normally one for frozen goods. But apparently I decided to go on the busiest day of shopping since before Thanksgiving. The employee said its all the “new year’s resolution-er’s” trying to get their healthy on…well, get out of my Trader Joe’s!! So, as I looked around for anything, anything at all to eat I stumbled upon the newly placed “new item” section.

These little guys come packed 10 per box. One serving size is 4 tamalitos, worth about 300 calories to all those who count those stupid things. I thought this would suffice for a workday lunch, who was I kidding…this is like a mid-day snack for me :/

I hate cooking frozen meals. I don’t know what it is about frozen to microwave to finished meal, that completely scares me. Well these little nuggets made me wet a paper towel, wrap it in saran wrap, then microwave…then they had parchment paper what I had to remove…all equaling WORK!!

As for the flavor, these little guys were tasty. Its hard for me to find Mexican inspired meals that don’t have beans (any kind) in it and not be sipcy. Well, all be damned, these little guys were exactly what I’m always looking for – savory and don’t contain beans & anything spicy. I wish these guys came in a larger size. They are savory, kinda easy to cook, and don’t break the bank.

I’d give them a four star rating for sure :) ImageImage Image
